Our Respite Care Services are available to adults of all ages.

If you or a loved one is unable to work or live a fully independent life for any reason, it can be lonely and leave you feeling helpless.

We are here to help you re-engage in social interaction and overcome isolation.

The Universal Respite Care Centre offers friendly care to adults of all ages who would benefit from mentoring and empowerment in order to gain confidence and live a more fulfilled life.

We are based in Wednesbury and serve clients from Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Sandwell, and the surrounding areas.

Our Universal Respite Care Services

We offer a range of services to support the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the individuals who attend. These services may include:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Respite Care


    This service is specifically designed to support individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Trained caregivers provide a safe and structured environment, understanding and accommodating the unique needs and communication styles of individuals with ASD. Activities and therapies are tailored to promote social interactions, sensory regulation, and skill development.

  • Learning Difficulties Respite Care


    Individuals with learning difficulties often require specialized support to enhance their cognitive, academic, and life skills. In this service, caregivers work closely with educational experts to provide personalized assistance, learning strategies, and engaging activities that encourage skill growth and boost self-esteem.

  • Behaviors That Challenge Respite Care


    Individuals exhibiting challenging behaviors often require skilled intervention and management. Caregivers trained in behavior management techniques offer a structured environment, focusing on de-escalation, positive reinforcement, and behavior modification strategies to create a safe and nurturing space for individuals to learn and grow.

  • Cerebral Palsy Respite Care


    Cerebral palsy affects motor skills and mobility. Caregivers in this program have expertise in assisting individuals with daily activities, mobility aids, physical therapies, and exercises aimed at improving motor function, independence, and overall well-being.

  • Dementia Respite Care


    Dementia care involves providing a secure and supportive environment for individuals with cognitive decline. Caregivers trained in dementia care offer memory-stimulating activities, companionship, assistance with daily living tasks, and a structured routine that enhances quality of life and maintains dignity.

  • Paranoid Schizophrenia Respite Care


    Paranoid schizophrenia care involves specialized support for individuals dealing with this complex mental health condition. Caregivers are trained to manage potential paranoia, delusions, and mood fluctuations. They provide emotional support, medication monitoring, and structured activities that promote stability and well-being.

  • Epilepsy Respite Care


    Epilepsy care focuses on the safety and well-being of individuals with epilepsy. Caregivers are educated about seizure management, medication administration, and emergency response protocols. They create a safe environment and ensure individuals receive appropriate care during and after seizures.

    Fully Furnished Rooms: Our comfortable and well-appointed rooms provide a peaceful retreat for residents.
    Disabled Access Shower and Facilities: Our centre is designed to be accessible, ensuring that all residents can move freely and comfortably.
    Lounge and TV Area: Our communal lounge area is a perfect space for relaxation and socializing, fostering a sense of community among residents.
    Person-Centred Activities: We curate activities based on individual interests and needs, encouraging engagement and a sense of purpose.
    Onsite Kitchen for Freshly Prepared Meals: Our onsite kitchen ensures that residents enjoy delicious, freshly prepared meals that cater to their dietary requirements.
    Onsite 24/7 CCTV Surveillance: Security is paramount at Universal Respite Care Centre. Our round-the-clock CCTV surveillance system ensures the safety of all residents.

We individually assess the service user to identify their needs and offer our services accordingly. Our ethos and principles in Universal respite care are very much person centred.

We offer a range of vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and halal meals and snacks to meet the dietary and religious requirements of our service users, thus maintaining a healthy and balanced diet.

Making sure that all care, religious and cultural needs are being met. We promote high standards of support and care.

We are committed to the safety of our staff and service users by providing a safe working environment by adhering to all the required health and safety procedures. The building is user-friendly. wheelchair access and lift facility are available. The building is fully cctv monitored and secured for the safety of the staff and service users. We actively promote anti-oppressive practises throughout the workforce.

Transport is provided to and from the centre supervised by our fully trained staff for health and safety.

Universal Respite Care Centre

Our staff are always available to assist you in any way they can. We only hire our employees after thorough background checks for your safety and security. Our employees are subjected to extensive background checks, which include:

Disclosure and Barring Service Check (Enhanced DBS) clearances is required.
Comprehensive application with information on up to ten years of work history.
Interview in person with competency tests.
A minimum Two references from current and former employers.
Attendance at all mandatory training, including moving and handling, health and safety, fire prevention and evacuation, safeguarding, infection control, first aid, and food hygiene.
Healthcare support staff are encouraged to pursue NVQ II & III certifications in challenging behaviour and learning disabilities.

Our staff retention is extremely good, which we find helps promote and provide continuity and consistency for our service users.

We have an ongoing training and development plan, and all staffs are required to complete "The Care Certificate." Once this has been obtained and there has been a minimum of three months of experience, the staff member will be encouraged to complete a qualification in health and social care. (Level appropriate to the staff’s current ability.)
